WANdisco reappoints Erik Miller as CFO after previous week-long rein

WANdisco's 'new' finance chief Erik Miller is named CFO - again - after an extraordinary few months for the AIM-listed big data business

IN WHAT for WANdisco’s new finance chief will hopefully be the last board reshuffle for a while, Erik Miller is named CFO of the AIM-listed big data business after an extraordinary few months.

WANdisco has reappointed Erik Miller as CFO, having resigned in October less than a week after his initial appointment as finance chief. The company downplayed his reappointment in a company statement despite the extraordinary circumstances.

Miller is a seasoned technology senior executive with over 20 years’ experience of shaping and leading finance functions at private and public high-growth technology companies.

Power struggle

In October, Miller resigned from WANdisco together with chairman Paul Walker, former FD and CEO of Sage, and non-executive director Ian Duncan amid a power struggle with previously-ousted CEO David Richards.

Richards persuaded a majority of shareholders to back him and retake the reins, at which point Miller left. In the wake of Miller’s departure, WANdisco said the company finance function would be divided between financial controller Beverley Jones and COO Jim Campigli. However, Miller rejoined as interim SVP of finance a further week on from his resignation.

WANdisco CEO and chairman David Richards said that “the return of Erik Miller as full time CFO and board director is a strong statement of intent by WANdisco as we look to aggressively grow our business in the medium term”.

At the time of Walker and Duncan’s departures, they said in a joint statement to the London Stock Exchange: “As independent non-executive directors, we had not considered David the right person to lead the company going forwards.”

The cloud provider has also appointed Karl Upton Monaghan, MD of Ashling Capital, as non-executive director.
