Electrocomponents appoints former FTSE 250 finance boss as FD

Former Alent FD David Egan joins electronics distributor Electrocomponents

ELECTROCOMPONENTS, a distributor of electronic products for engineers, has appointed David Egan as its new group finance director.

Egan, an accountant who holds dual British and Australian citizenship, succeeds Simon Boddie, who stepped down in May after a decade in the role.

Previously, Egan was FD of chemicals supplier Alent and global CFO at ESAB Holdings, the largest division of Charter International, and group financial controller at Hanson.

He has extensive experience in business transformation through performance improvement and M&A and has worked in Asia as well as Europe, the US and Australia.

Egan is currently a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee at Tribal Group.

Lindsley Ruth, CEO, said Egan has highly relevant international experience and an excellent track record implementing transformational change in global industrial businesses.

“In his most recent role as group finance director of Alent, David worked with a similar customer base to our own, led a major efficiency improvement initiative and created significant shareholder value,” said Ruth.
