Darren Mee to leave the budget hotel chain, months after its AIM listing
THE CFO of ‘super-budget’ hotels business easyHotel is to step down to “pursue another opportunity”.
Darren Mee will leave the company, launched by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou (pictured), in a month’s time with the search for his successor to be commenced shortly. Mee’s plans for his post-easyHotel career are unknown.
Chartered accountant Mee joined easyHotel in March 2014, prior to its AIM listing. Having qualified with PwC he worked at DS Smith in tax and treasury roles, before spending 12 years with TUI Travel, which included terms as FD and COO.
The budget hotel’s placing, in June, failed to raise the £60m funds it had set out; with a haul of just £30m.
Simon Champion, CEO, said: “The board would like to thank Darren for his substantial contribution to the company this year and helping us achieve our successful listing on AIM.”
Its share price was unchanged in this morning’s trading, at 96.00p, valuing the company at £60m.
