Green Investment Bank promotes risk officer Peter Knott to CFO as it moves beyond start-up phase

THE government’s Green Investment Bank has added some financial nous to its management team with the appointment of a new chief financial officer.

Qualified accountant Peter Knott has been promoted from chief risk officer to CFO and will join chief executive Shaun Kingsbury as the only other executive director on the bank’s board.

Knott qualified with Deloitte & Touche before later serving as for JPMorgan Chase’s global investment banking coverage and mergers and acquisitions groups.

More recently, he worked for Standard Chartered, where he held roles including group treasurer, consumer banking group chief risk officer and group head of operational risk.
The bank was launched in 2012 by business secretary Vince Cable to invest in the UK’s green energy sector.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, chairman of the Green Investment Bank said: “Now we have moved beyond the start-up phase it is important that we build the infrastructure we need to support our long-term future as an enduring institution. I am delighted that Peter Knott will be joining the GIB board as a new chief financial officer. This role will be critical for GIB as it works to build a growing and sustainable business.”
