AIG establishes key financial officer role

Insurance giant American International Group (AIG) has appointed Sabra Purtill to its newly created role of deputy CFO, head of treasury, investor relations and corporate development. Purtill will take up office on 28 August  and will report to AIG executive vice-president and chief financial officer Mark Lyons. Her role includes overseeing AIG’s engagement with key financial stakeholders, agencies, investors, the company’s treasury and credit banking functions. Prior to this role, Purtill was at Hartford Financial Services Group where she most recently served as senior-vice president of investor and treasurer. She has also served as managing director at Assured Guaranty and as corporate finance officer at ACE limited.

Hammerson names AIG exec as new finance chief

Hammerson has brought on board James Lenton as its new finance chief following the stepping down of Timon Drakesmith. He previously served as chief financial officer of the US insurer AIG’s EMEA business and its European Group until June. He will take up office on 1 October 2019.

UBS names new CEO for European Union operations

Financial services company, UBS has taken on board Christine Novakovic as chief executive of the Swiss Bank’s European Union operations based in Frankfurt. She will succeed Thomas Rodermann and will take up office on 1 September 2019. Her new role includes overseeing wealth management in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as Germany and Austria.

Bsquare announces appointment of new CFO

IoT technology and services provider Bsquare has taken on board Chris Wheaton as its chief financial officer who will take up office on 9 September. Wheaton has a wealth of experience in entrepreneurial and financial operations. He has previously served as CFO and COO of EnerG2, CFO at Pacific Science Center and interim CFO in Puget Sound.

ommenting upon Wheaton’s appointment, Ralph C. Derrickson, President and CEO, Bsquare Corporation said: “I look forward to partnering with Chris to accelerate the execution of the One Bsquare initiatives returning us to growth and profitability.”

Cielo Global Holdings names Chris Pruitt as CFO

AI and fintech services provider Cielo Global Holdings (CGH) has brought on board Chris Pruitt as its chief financial officer. His responsibility includes overseeing finance and accounting, reporting and planning for the firm. Pruitt brings along nearly 20 years of experience in accounting and finance in the private sector and other public sector companies. He has held roles including treasury management, financial statement preparation, CFO/controllership, audit, income tax and contract management among others. Most recently he has served as CFO at a civil construction company in New Mexico.

Carla Tucker named EVP and CFO of Bank of the Pacific

Bank holding company for Bank of the Pacific has hired Carla Tucker as its new chief financial officer and executive vice president effective 1 September 2019, she will succeed Douglas Biddle who has decided to step down permanently. Tucker has over 20 years of leadership and accounting experience serving Skagit bank as its chief financial officer for nearly 15 years. In her role, she oversaw finance, accounting, marketing, facilities and risk management functions for the bank.

Paytm promotes CFO Madhur Deora as president

E-commerce payment system and digital wallet services provider Paytm has promoted Madhur Deora the company’s chief financial officer as its President. Prior to joining Paytm, Deora served Citigroup’s investment banking business as its managing director. Commenting upon Deora’s promotion, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO, Paytm said: “As we expand our business, we are promoting Deora to the role of President who has been a key partner in this success.”

HDFC Bank appoints Srinivasan Vaidyanathan as CFO

Private lender HDFC Bank has promoted Srinivasan Vaidyanathan to the office of chief financial officer with immediate effect. Vaidyanathan previously served as group head of finance in the bank and would now succeed Sashidhar Jagdishan. Jagdishan would continue serving as head of the finance function and also look into other verticals of the bank.

Vidyanathan would continue to report to Jagdishan in the new role and they would be Key Managerial Personnel of HDFC Bank as per Companies Act, 2013 and the Regulations. Vidyanathan brings along a wealth of nearly 30 years of  experience and has worked across Singapore, Hong Kong and the US covering banks, tax and treasury management.

Citrix announces Arlen Shenkman as CFO

Multinational software company Citrix systems has brought on board Arlen Shenkman as its EVP and CFO. He will take up office on 9 September 2019 and report to Citrix president and CEO David Henshall. Prior to this role, he was with SAP where he held financial and business development roles.

Shenkman will look into the company’s financial and capital management strategies, budgeting, planning, financial accounting, tax and treasury, investor relations, strategic alliances and M&A. He will succeed Citrix’s interim CFO Jessica Soisson.

Fiesta Restaurant Group appoints Dirk Montgomery CFO

Fiesta Restaurant Group (FRGI) has hired Dirk Montgomery as its new chief financial officer with effect from 9 September 2019. Montgomery has significant experience in industries including  strategy, supply chain management, field operations, and capital markets transactions. He recently served as CFO of Hooters International and looked after accounting, finance, technology and global supply chain, he was also CFO at Bloomin’ Brands. He has held the role of CFO in various sectors including healthcare and retail and consumer products.

Sapphire Digital appoints Kyle Raffaniello as interim CFO

Digital engagement and shopping platform for consumers, Sapphire Digital has appointed Kyle Raffaniello as the firm’s interim CEO and Bryan Perler to the newly created role of chief financial and administrative officer. Raffaniello has served as the company’s chief strategy and marketing officer since the last four years.

Perler has served as the company’s chief financial officer for the past seven years and in the new role he will be responsible for innovation of data, analytics and quality information across the organisation. Prior to Sapphire Digital, he served as CFO and head of strategy at Benchmark solutions.

Maple Leaf Foods launches search for new CFO

Maple Leaf Food’s chief financial officer Debbie Simpson has decided to step down effective 1 November 2019. Simpson served the company for 12 years and as CFO since the last five years. A search process for her successor has commenced. Commenting upon Simpson’s decision to step down, Michael McCain, President and CEO, Maple Leaf Foods said: “Debbie has made a very significant contribution to Maple Leaf through her executive leadership in financial management, reporting and strategic initiatives that have shaped the future of our company.”

Morneau Shepell reveals new appointments

Technology-enabled HR services provider Morneau Shepell has taken on board Grier Colter as its chief financial officer and executive vice president effective 1 October 2019. Colter will report to Stephen Liptrap, president and CEO and will oversee the company’s financial activities, corporate accounting and reporting, investor relations, corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions. Colter brings along more than 25 years of finance experience and has previously served as CFO of ECN capital.

2U announces CFOr retirement

Education technology company 2U’s CFO Catherine Graham has decided to step down following a seven year stint with the company effective 1 April 2020. An external search process for her successor has begun. Commenting upon Graham’s decision, Christopher Paucek, co-founder and CEO, 2U said: “For the past seven years, Cathy has been an indispensable part of 2U’s success, an important member of our leadership team, and a valued advisor to me personally.”

Cuentas appoints Sylwin Grinman as chief operating officer

Fintech services provider Cuentas has brought on board Sylwin Grinman as its chief operating officer. Grinman brings along more than 40 years of global leadership experience and has previously served as international general manager at Hoffman Laroche Biomedical and president of Shiseido Japan Group leading their operations across Europe.

Commenting upon his appointment, Grinman said: “I am thrilled to join such a dynamic and creative team, working to make a real difference in the life of the millions of unbanked Latinos in the United States. I am confident that my prior commercial experience will be a significant asset to Cuentas’ commercialization efforts and look forward to driving forward our innovative GPR card in key domestic markets.”

Blue Prism names Eric Verniaut as chief operating officer

Robotic Process Automation service provider Blue Prism has appointed Eric Verniaut as its chief operating officer. Verniaut brings along more than 30 years of experience in technology. He will be responsible for Blue Prism’s market operations, including sales, field marketing, partner management, globalization, customer service and support. Verniaut has previously served as chief business officer for EMEA, MEE and Greater China at SAP. At BluePrism,  he will focus on the company’s global expansion into North America, Europe and the Asian markets.

GreyOrange appoints Jeff Cashman as the global COO

Supply chain automation services provider GreyOrange has brought on board Jeff Cashman as its global COO and will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Atlanta. He will share insights of his supply chain technology expertise to  push GreyOrange’s customer-first relationship strategy, build industry partnerships and attract talent. Cashman has more than 30 years of experience in supply chain technology and has most recently served as the CEO of Ally Commerce, he has worked at Accenture’s supply chain strategy practice for about 12 years and more than 13 as SVP of business development at Manhattan Associates.
