Kraft Heinz appoints 29-year-old CFO
The world's fifth-largest food and beverage company has appointed its youngest-ever CFO
Kraft-Heinz Co., the world’s fifth-largest food and beverage company announced the appointment of the youngest CFO in the company’s history, David Knopf, who is just 29-years-old.
Knopf is currently vice president (VP) and category head of the Planters nuts category and will become executive VP and CFO at the beginning of October.
The appointment comes as part of a raft of new appointments, as current CFO and executive VP, Paulo Basilio, 42, has been promoted to zone president of the United states business, while George Zoghbi, currently COO of the US business, will become a strategic advisor.
Knopf joined the business from 3G Capital Partners shortly after working on the deal with Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. that created Kraft-Heinz in 2015.
Whilst at 3G, the Brazilian private equity firm backed by notable billionaires, Knopf was also involved in large acquisitions including Burger King’s $11 billion takeover of Tim Horton’s, the Canadian coffee and restaurant chain, to create Restaurant Brands International, the third largest operator of fast food restaurants in the world.
The Princeton-educated Knopf started his career as an Investment Banking analyst, according to his LinkedIn profile, and had a brief stint at Onex before joining 3G Capital in 2013 as an analyst. He quickly rose up the ranks to become an associate partner in 2015, but just seven months later moved to Kraft-Heinz, after working on the merger. He continues to be a partner at 3G Capital.
