SABMiller toasts De Lorenzo as new CFO

De Lorenzo has been acting CFO of the Peroni and Grolsch brewer since 19 February 2015

GLOBAL DRINKS GIANT SABMiller has announced its intention to appoint Domenic De Lorenzo as chief financial officer and executive director at its AGM on 23 July.

De Lorenzo, currently director of group strategy and corporate development and a member of the group’s executive committee, has been acting CFO of the Peroni and Grolsch brewer since 19 February 2015.

Jamie Wilson, the company’s prevous CFO, quit the company in February, citing personal reasons, after more than a decade at the firm, the world’s second-largest brewer by sales.

John Manser, chairman, said: “The board considered a number of high quality internal and external candidates, and concluded that Domenic was the best-qualified for the role. He has a strong track record in his previous positions within the group, which has given him deep experience of developing our business and our people, and shaping our strategy. He is a highly capable executive and will be a valuable addition to the board.”

De Lorenzo assumed responsibility in August 2014 for group strategy at the FTSE 100 player alongside his previous responsibilities as director of corporate finance and development.

The South African chartered accountant has been closely involved in the group’s finance strategy since his appointment to its executive committee in 2011.

A 19-year veteran of the group, De Lorenzo joined SABMiller’s corporate finance team in 1996 from UAL Investment Bank in South Africa.

He has been involved in many of its SABMiller’s key transactions, including Pilsner Urquell, Miller Brewing Company, Peroni, Bavaria, Grolsch, the formation of the MillerCoors joint venture and Foster’s acquisition.
