HEATHROW has scooped the FD of British Gas to take the place of its departing finance chief.
Michael Uzielli, who has served as British Gas FD for nearly three years, takes over the Heathrow CFO role from José Leo.
Uzielli has aviation industry experience outside of his current role, having previously worked for British Airways, and with Schroders.
At British Gas he has driven efficiency, restructured the company pension schemes and led a “highly re-engaged” finance team, Heathrow said in a statement to the stock exchange. He has also improved engagement with the government and energy industry regulators.
Leo leaves Heathrow at the end of March after eight years, having helped raise more than £11bn of funding to transform the airport.
Heathrow chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: “I am delighted that we have such a worthy successor to José Leo. Michael brings great experience and skills which will help us take Heathrow from being one of the best airports in Europe to be one of the best in the world.”
