Law firm scoops tax team led by ex-Grant Thornton director

Frank Strachan, Sean Bannister and Ashley Fletcher all join law firm Edwin Coe as it establishes a tax team

LAW FIRM Edwin Coe has established a tax dispute and advisory team, headed by former Grant Thornton associate director Frank Strachan.

Strachan has been made partner and will be assisted by senior associate Sean Bannister and tax assistant Ashley Fletcher.

Strachan joins from LSG Solicitors, where he was head of tax and tax dispute resolutions. He has also had two spells at Grant Thornton; one as a manager from 2001-06, and another as associate director from 2007-11. Those roles were separated by a managerial stint at KPMG between October 2006 and October 2007.

He has also worked as a consultant at WJB Chiltern and began his career at HM Revenue & Customs.

Edwin Coe’s head of private clients, Nick Giles, said the appointments are a “valuable addition to our current private client services for high net worth individuals”.

“They have a market-leading understanding of the offshore market and regularly advise clients in respect of challenges from the tax authorities, as well as helping clients more generally to gain a better understanding of their UK tax position and requirements,” he said.
