Labour poised after expenses audit

Audit of Labour's expenses to be wrapped up, followed by a disciplinary panel to take matters further

A Labour disciplinary panel set up to punish MPs found to have misused
expenses will begin its work after an independent audit of all claims from the
past four years is completed.

‘I have asked for systematic independent scrutiny of every expenses claim
made in the past four years – with the power to decide what should be paid
back,’ said prime minister Gordon Brown, reported the Independent.

Labour’s national executive committee agreed the proposals.
