The yo-yo swings of the FTSE-100 were reflected in the first week's

In the week to Thursday 29 March, the index started out on the ascendancy but soon retreated into the red. Negative sentiment from the US also hit London stocks.

After three days of gains, the FTSE headed south on Wednesday and Thursday with UK technology and telecommunications stocks all suffering early in the week and making up little ground later on.

And with Nasdaq’s overnight plunge on Wednesday continuing to leave its mark on Thursday trading in London, Logica lost 25p to 1015p and Misys plummeted 29p to 508p.

Thursday saw the overall market frustrated by the European Central Bank’s decision to leave its leading eurozone rates unchanged. The City took this as a sign that the Bank of England would leave UK rates the same as well.
