GrandMet loves Uxbridge in the spring
Imagine the atmosphere in the Paris headquarters of Grand Metropolitan’s European foods business. A select group of top executives who had escaped from the food and drink group’s UK base had spent several years investigating the food market in Paris, and the rest of Europe as well, of course.
Sadly the European food industry is pretty tough and the opposition rather well entrenched. Now GrandMet’s new chief executive John McGrath has decreed a change of strategy. In future the group will concentrate just on its international brands – Haagen Dazs, Burger King etc.
The biggest blow … the European HQ is being moved from Paris to Uxbridge.
“I don’t think you’ll see many people moving,” a spokesman said.
