Vodafone names Microsoft Executive Pilar López as new CFO
Vodafone Group has appointed Pilar López as Chief Financial Officer Designate, set to take the reins formally on December 1, 2025.
López, whose resume spans senior roles across the telecom and technology sectors, will begin transitioning into the role from October 1, following the previously announced departure of current CFO Luka Mucic.
The handover comes at a pivotal moment for Vodafone, which is in the midst of a broader strategic transformation under Group CEO Margherita Della Valle.
The company has sharpened its focus on operational efficiency, simplification, and cash flow performance—an agenda López is expected to advance.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Vodafone at such an important time in the Group’s transformation,” López said in a statement.
“I am excited to work with Margherita and the team as Vodafone continues to improve the service to its customers, further simplify operations across the Group, and deliver sustainable growth in free cash flow.”
López brings with her a strong international track record in finance, with sector experience that spans both telecoms and tech—two industries that increasingly overlap as operators pivot toward digital infrastructure and enterprise services.
“Pilar is joining us as we continue to drive operational excellence across the Group,” said Della Valle. “She has deep-rooted knowledge of both the telecoms and technology sectors, across a range of international leadership positions.”
Her appointment follows what Vodafone Group Chair Jean-François van Boxmeer described as “an extensive and rigorous international search.”
He added: “She brings strong experience from the finance, telecoms and technology sectors across Europe, and is an excellent addition to our team.”
López’s arrival will coincide with the culmination of Mucic’s tenure, which ends on November 30. Vodafone has not disclosed additional information under UK Listing Rule 6.4.8 regarding the appointment.
As CFO, López will be charged with helping Vodafone navigate a complex macroeconomic and regulatory environment, while executing on growth and cash generation targets.
Her leadership will be closely watched as the company works to translate its operational reset into long-term shareholder value.
