The latest round-up of appointments of finance directors as well as other leading executive positions in the UK and elsewhere

Keltbray hires new financial director

UK-based construction company Keltbray Group has appointed Peter Burnside as its new Group Financial Director. His responsibilities will include financial reporting across the firm insurance, facilities and IT, management of Keltbray’s property portfolio, as well as strengthening the group’s senior management team.

Burnside, who will be replacing John Keehan, is joining the company from global accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO, where he was Managing Partner for BDO Northern Ireland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Simon Tray made CFO of Media iQ

Media iQ, an analytics company, has appointed Simon Tray as its new global Chief Financial Officer. At Media iQ, Simon will be responsible for the company’s financial performance and reporting of business, as well as future operational business planning and commercial risk management.

With over 19 years of experience, Tray previously held the same role at media giant MediaCom Worldwide. Following WPP’s acquisition of MediaCom in 2005, Tray was asked to become the first CFO for GroupM UK, the world’s largest advertising media company.

Lendy appoints new head of finance

Lendy, a crowdfunding marketplace, has expanded its team with the appointment of Andrew Wawrzyniak as its new head of finance. He comes to Lendy from Fund Partners, where he was a fund manager whose clients include Octopus Investments, Pictet Asset Management and Russell Investments.

Andrew also has over 25 years of accountancy experience as well as a wealth of knowledge in overseeing the delivery of investment services.

Speaking about Wawrzyniak’s appointment, Liam Brooke, co-founder of Lendy said, “Andrew is one of a number of key appointments we have made over the last year as we’ve strengthened our senior team. We are looking to continuous improvements in key areas such as loan origination, due diligence and risk management and Andrew’s appointment is an important part of that process.”

Linen supplier Clean hires new CFO

Clean, a hospitality and linen supplier, has appointed Kevin Godley as its new Chief Financial Officer. He will primarily be responsible for supporting the next phase of Clean’s growth in the linen rental and laundry industry.

Godley joins Clean from listed jet charter group Gama Aviation, where he was primarily responsible for helping to steer the company from a private equity backed business onto the AIM market through the reverse merger acquisition of Hangar8. During his leadership, Gama had enjoyed substantial organic and acquisition related growth with  group revenues rising from $180 million to $600 million in that period.

Bishop Fleming appoints Frances Teague as new Director of Finance

Bishop Fleming, an advisory firm, has brought in Frances Teague as its new Director of Finance. Her responsibilities at the firm will include its accounting and finance systems.

In her career, Teague has held numerous accountancy and financial controller roles, having trained and qualified in Birmingham, followed by roles at PwC, the Regional Development Agency and solicitors Ashfords. She joins the firm from Debenhams where she was Senior Finance Manager.

Jonathan Williams, a finance partner at Bishop Fleming said, “I am really delighted that Frances is joining us in this vital role. She brings with her a wealth of experience, and we welcome her to the team.”

QEII Centre hires new finance director

London’s conference venue QEII Centre has brought on board Mark Longford as its new finance director. In his new role, Longford will be responsible for the financial aspects of events being held at the centre. He will also be deputising for chief executive officer Mark Taylor.

Prior to joining QEII, Longford held senior accountancy roles with a number of well-known corporates including Honeywell, Sodexo, Sony, Verizon Communications, BBC, Sky and Jones Lang LaSalle. He is a qualified chartered accountant and a fellow of accountancy body the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with an honours degree in Law from Southampton University.

Commenting on Longford’s appointment, Taylor said: “I am thrilled to welcome Mark to the team, who, as well as bringing years of experience in finance, will play a pivotal role in ensuring the centre meets its business objectives, continues to achieve stellar results and continually focuses on building a structure for growth, whilst maintaining and establishing the QEII Centre as a world class centre of excellence.”

Financial regulators appoint new Chair Of The Financial Services Compensation Scheme

Regulators the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) have brought on board Marshall Bailey as the new chair of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Bailey, who will be replacing Lawrence Churchill, will officially take on the responsibilities from 1 April 2018.

Bailey currently holds the post of non-executive director at both Chubb European Group, part of the global insurance group, and the UK arm of CIBC World Markets, the investment banking subsidiary of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

With over two decades of experience in the financial services sector, Bailey has held senior positions in various companies. He has also worked on issues around financial reform and conduct, most recently on the Board of UK Financial Investments (UKFI), set up by HM Treasury to manage its  shareholdings in financial institutions.

Glu adds Tesla’s chief people officer to board of directors

Glu Mobile, a San Francisco developer and publisher of  video games, has brought on board Gabrielle Toledano as one of its new board of directors. In addition to her role at Glu, Gabrielle also works as chief people officer at Tesla. Her role includes leading HR, facilities, security and environment, health and safety.

She had also worked at Electronic Arts, another games company, for 10 years as chief talent officer and executive vice president. Before Electronic Arts, Toledano held various HR roles at Microsoft, Oracle and Siebel Systems.

Delta Capita brings in former Capco UK CEO  Steve Vinnicombe  as chairman

Steve Vinnicombe has joined Delta Capita, an information technology consulting firm as its Chairman from rival Capco where he was CEO.

Vinnicombe has over 20 years of working in the consulting industry. He started his career at Accenture, where he spent 11 years specialising in Financial Services, his last role as a senior executive in the Capital Markets unit. In 2010, Vinnicombe joined Capco and was instrumental in helping the business achieve 25% compound annual growth between 2010 and 2016. Between January 2014 and June 2016, he served as the CEO of Capco in both the UK and South Africa.
