Financial Director introduces the launch of its Resident CFO series
Dear readers,
Financial Director is pleased to announce the launch of a new Resident CFO series, where every fortnight our Resident CFO will share their experience and provide valuable insight into the industries they work in and the challenges that come with being a CFO.
To kick off the series, Financial Director is happy to welcome Chris Astle, former CFO of global bio-pharmaceutical company, Allergan, as our Resident CFO.
After gaining a Masters in chemistry, Chris trained as a chartered accountant with ICAS and began his career with PwC in 2004. After leaving PwC in 2007, Chris held a number of senior finance positions with the science and communication industries, before he joined Allergan in 2011.
Working his way up from senior finance manager to finance director of EMEA, and then senior international finance director, Chris became international CFO of Allergan in 2016. He left the company in July 2017 to start his own consulting firm, Think Forwards, that specialises in helping businesses implement transformational projects.
Chris is also the CFO of eWaterPay, a technology company that aims to provide a sustainable, transparent and accountable means of paying for water, to help guarantee sustainable water in developing countries.
In this first article from Financial Director’s Resident CFO, Chris shares his experience of taking on a large team for the first time. Read the article here.
