Are businesses ready for serious digital disruption?

A new report from Advanced has revealed serious gaps when it comes to businesses being prepared for a cyber attack

A new report from Advanced has revealed serious gaps when it comes to businesses being prepared for a cyber attack.

Advanced’s inaugural Trends Report 2016 surveyed over 1,000 professionals in the UK business community to assess the readiness of businesses in the face of serious digital disruption as well as highlighting the qualities and factors necessary to be successful in the current environment.

The survey found that 26% of respondents did not feel prepared for a cyber attack, while 54% believed that risks around data security affect the adoption of digital technology. In addition, 86% of respondents thought that the most important attribute in a business leader is the ability to re-imagine their business, and 84% believed that real time information allows for faster, more informed decisions.

When asked about Brexit, 51% of respondents believed that Brexit was an opportunity for growth and prosperity for UK businesses, with 61% claiming to be well prepared or preparing for the UK’s exit from the EU. Yet, 60% of respondents agreed that the biggest impact of budget cuts would only be felt in the next 18-24 months.

The report also identified three key areas related to the state of business readiness: economic readiness; digital readiness; and customer readiness. Within these areas, beliefs, expectations and requirements are changing constantly, and organisations’ workforces will play a critical role moving forwards, said the report.
