Steel adds strength to National Express board

NATIONAL EXPRESS has appointed Ashley Steel as an independent non-executive director.

The former KPMG vice chairwoman and global chairwoman of its transport, leisure and logistics practice will join the board on 1 January 2016 – as well as the company’s safety & environment and audit committees.

Boasting significant international experience, Steel has advised numerous FTSE/Fortune 500 boards as well as professional services, technology, media, business services and healthcare companies.

Sir John Armitt, chairman of National Express, said: “I am delighted that Ashley is joining the board of National Express. Ashley has a distinguished track record of advising companies across a range of sectors – including transport – and we will benefit from her knowledge and experience. I look forward to working with her.”

Steel is currently a NED of the Civil Aviation Authority and serves on the international business advisory board at British Airways. She is also special adviser to a global aviation technology company owned by Warburg Pincus and an independent NED to global law firm Ince & Co.

Meanwhile, International Public Partnerships Limited has appointed former BDO partner John Le Poidevin to its board as a NED with effect from New Year’s Day.

Rupert Dorey, chairman, said: “John brings broad financial experience and considerable commercial acumen. We are delighted to welcome him to the INPP board.”

Le Poidevin, 45, an ICAEW fellow, is a NED on Market Tech Holdings, Safecharge International Group and Stride Gaming and chairs a number of audit committees.
