BAE Systems FD takes SSE non-exec role

BAE Systems’ FD Peter Lynas is to join SSE’s board as a non-executive director.

Lynas has served with BAE in the top finance role since April 2011. He began his career in the 1980s as a trainee accountant with De La Rue Systems, then the cash handling arm of the note printers. He then held several senior finance roles within Marconi before joining BAE Systems as director of financial control in 1999.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, chairman of SSE, said: “I am delighted that Peter will be joining the board later this year. He will bring the experience and insight he has gained as finance director in another UK-listed company and contribute very positively to the work of the board and its committees.”

ACCA-qualified Lynas also serves as chairman of one of BAE Systems’ pension schemes’ trustee board and is a former non-exec at NNC.
