Financial Director is delighted to announce that Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and chief executive of WPP, the world’s largest advertising and marketing services group, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the 2011 Financial Director Summit on 16 June.

Sir Martin will headline a glittering array of speakers that also includes Shaun Parker, group finance director at life assistance provider CPP Group, and Hugh Watchorn, finance director of Bonhams, the fine art auctioneers, at the seventh annual Financial Director Summit.

The one-day event will pack in the very freshest, value-added thought leadership, the best speakers and advisors, and plenty of top-level, behind-the-scenes insights on how the best mid-market FDs operate.

The event will lead with the most pressing issues for FDs in 2011 and beyond, encompassing the reality of finding sustainable growth versus the mantra, how to demonstrate finance’s critical leadership role in managing change and upheaval in the coming years. Finance directors in attendance will enjoy invaluable networking opportunities with which to meet the best in the field and exchange learning and advice on what is to come.

In 2006, Sir Martin was appointed a non-executive director of Alpha Topco, the Formula 1 company. In 2008, he was appointed by The English Football Association to the board of the bid to stage the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is a patron of the British Museum, a member of the corporate Advisory Group of the Tate Gallery, and on the International Advisory Board of The Russian Museum in St Petersburg. In 2010 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Bloomberg Family Foundation.
