Patrick Flynn gets ready to join ING

Dutch bank ING will get a fresh CFO and CEO team when Patrick Flynn, currently CFO for HSBC’s global insurance business, joins the executive board at the annual general meeting, while Jan Hommen will formally be made chief executive at the same time.

Leaving HSBC in his 20th year with the business, Flynn will
join the executive board at the AGM on 29 April, though at the time of writing
his appointment was still subject to approval by the Dutch Central Bank. He
succeeds John Hele who leaves the business to relocate to America and become CFO
of Bermuda-based insurer, Arch Capital Group.

Prior to being made CFO for the insurance business, Flynn was CFO for HSBC’s
South American banking and insurance operations, and has had a number of senior
finance management roles with the group.
Hommen, currently chairman of ING’s supervisory board having joined as a member
in 2005, was previously CFO for Royal Philips Electronic and is a former CFO of
Alcoa.
