Jose Leo is the new group FD of Amey, following Deloitte & Touche partner Eric Tracey’s stint in the role on an interim basis. Leo joins from Amey’s new parent company, Ferrovial, which is based in Spain.

Former Old Mutual group FD Eric Anstee takes up the ICAEW’s newly created post of chief executive in September 2003, replacing the position of secretary general as the most senior member of the Institute’s staff. The former FD held senior financial roles with the Energy Group and Eastern Group and was twice profiled in Financial Director.

Singer & Friedlander group chief operating officer and FD Michael Gibbins is to retire at the end of 2003. Tony Shearer, former deputy chief executive and FD of Old Mutual, will succeed Gibbins in both roles.

Barbara Moorhouse has been appointed chief financial officer of Scala Business Solutions. Moorhouse has 20 years of experience in finance and strategy, including her previous role as group FD of Kewill Systems, and in the same capacity at Morgan Sindall.

Alastair Murray joins Dairy Crest as group FD, from September 2003. Murray has served as FD at The Body Shop since 1999, prior to which he served as FD at Dalgety Food Ingredients.

Leeds United has appointed acting chief financial officer Neil Robson in the permanent role of finance director. Robson has been seconded from Ernst & Young since April 2003.

Metronet, the company responsible for the upgrade and revitalisation of two-thirds of the London Underground network, has appointed Philip Pacey as chief financial officer to replace Andrew Norris.

Ian Powney is the new finance and corporate services director for gas safety watchdog CORGI. Powney has worked for several service industries, including railway operations and, most recently, the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Lloyd’s underwriter Beazley has appointed Andrew Horton as group FD, while Arthur Manners has stepped down from the board but continues as FD of Beazley Furlonge.

Rathbone Brothers FD Andrew Pomfret has also joined Beazley’s board as a non-executive director.

Martin Clements has joined Focus Solutions Group as finance director.

Clements brings senior financial experience to his role at the sales automation solutions company, having served at AIM-listed Bond International Software, Eurobell Holdings and Vickers.

Business process outsourcing company Liberata has promoted Nick Greatorex to chief financial officer. Greatorex continues with his responsibility for the company’s development function.

Blavod Black Vodka FD David Wheatley has retired, handing over the reins to William Phillips. Phillips is the former MD of Macallan-Glenlivet and has extensive experience in the drinks trade.

AIM-listed travel promotions company Landround has appointed Clare Dyer as group FD. Dyer has served as the company’s chief financial officer and company secretary since October 2001, having joined from Baker Tilly nearly four years ago.

IT services company Detica has appointed Mandy Gradden as group FD, following the resignation of Andrew Alcock. Gradden, a former Telewest director and group FC of Sygen International, will also act as Detica’s company secretary.

PR and marketing agency Howell Petersen has appointed Haydn Evans as finance and operations director. Evans has 15 years of experience in the telecoms sector, including senior financial roles at Mitel and Nortel.

Engineering, design and project management consultancy Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Greg Ayres as finance and administration director. Parsons has served for over 25 years in senior financial roles, including positions with ABB, Honeywell and Bovis.

Westminster City Council FD Roger Allard has retired after two years in the role and 36 years of service. A successor has yet to be recruited.

Bailey Telecom has named David Lane as financial director. Lane was previously the European director of financial planning for Stanley Tools. Prior to this, he held senior financial positions at Northern Foods and The Spring Ram Corporation.

Independent financial advisory group Inter-Alliance has recruited Steven Hartley to serve as group FD. Hartley has worked as chief financial officer and corporate financier, and was a founder director on the board of AIM-listed Euro Sales Finance.

Debt purchaser Cabot Financial has named John Randall as head of finance, after he served as group FD at Opus Trust.

Recruitment consultancy Huntress Search has appointed Andy Wickham as finance director. Wickham was previously in charge of the finance function of Triage Consulting, prior to which he served at Best International Group.

Andrew Wood is the new group FD of Bristol-based excavator rental specialist Hydrex. Wood, formerly FD of Great Mills DIY, is responsible for Hydrex’s finance, IT and HR functions.

Steven Mugglestone has been appointed FD designate of bar and nightclub operator Springwood. Mugglestone was seconded from Grant Thornton to assist Springwood’s FD David Stevenson.

Meanwhile, Stevenson leaves to join North West pub operator and brewer Jennings Brothers, having 16 years of experience in licensed retailing and brewing with Allied Domecq.

Michael Reynolds is the new group FD of fire protection manufacturer Cape, following the resignation of Ian Widdowson. Reynolds has served with Cape for 11 years, most recently as finance and commercial director of its industrial services business.
