On the move - Heiden rolls into FKI as chief executive

Rolls-Royce FD Paul Heiden will join international engineering group FKI as chief exec in January 2003, succeeding Bob Beeston, who will retire after 11 years as chief exec. Heiden joined Rolls-Royce from Hanson in 1992, and has been FD since October 1999.

Paul Dollman will join John Menzies as group FD in October 2002, replacing Martyn Smith, who leaves to become FD of Avis Europe. Dollman has been at William Grant since 1998 and also spent five years with Inveresk where he played a key role in the company’s flotation.

Scottish & Southern Energy FD Ian Marchant is to succeed Jim Forbes as chief exec. Gregor Alexander is promoted from treasurer and tax manager to replace Marchant as FD. Both appointments will be effective from October 2002.

Construction and engineering group Balfour Beatty has promoted Ian Tyler from FD to COO. Tyler is succeeded by the company’s capital projects manager Anthony Rabin.

Financial and business information provider Hemscott has promoted Natalie Newton to CFO. Newton, who succeeds Kevin O’Byrne, has been Hemscott FC since May 2000.

Mothercare FD Mark McMenemy has taken on the role of acting chief exec while the company looks for a successor to former chief exec Chris Martin. Martin joined the Storehouse Group as Mothercare’s FD in April 1995, and was later Bhs FD.

North-west-based pub company Honeycombe Leisure has promoted financial controller Paul Snape to FD. He replaces Michael Norris. Snape joined Honeycombe as FC in March 2001 from Devonshire Leisure Group, after Honeycombe acquired it. He was finance director of Devonshire from 1997.

Former VisitScotland director of finance and corporate planning, Lynne Hollis, who lost her job along with five other directors following a PwC audit report, has joined a Lothian hospital trust as FD. Hollis is the new director of finance at Lothian Primary Care NHS Trust.

Stuart Miller has been appointed group FD of separations technology company Whatman. The former Enodis group CFO has held senior financial positions at Dexion Group and International Packaging.

Tottenham Hotspur plc has named Paul Viner as FD. The chartered accountant, who joined the club as financial accountant in 1996, was promoted to FC in 1999 and appointed FD designate and company secretary in October 2001. He previously worked for media accountancy practice MGR.

Income protection insurance provider UnumProvident has appointed Terry Walker as CFO. He replaces Ruth Greene, who returns to UnumProvident in the US after completing a five-year secondment. Walker has previous experience at HSBC, and has been MD of Midland Life.

Property developer Bellway has named Alistair Leitch as FD, following Alan Robson’s retirement after 18 years with the company. Leitch has a long relationship with Bellway. He joined in 1981, and was previously group chief accountant.

Morag MacDonald is the new director of finance and commercial development at the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. She joins from AOL, where she was UK CFO.

Michael Hughes has joined insurance and warranty company The Regency Group as FD. He was previously FD of the homes service division of South Staffordshire Group, which was bought by Regency.

Pat Crawford has joined Keele University as director of finance. Crawford has served as director of finance with the University of Derby and United Medical and Dental Schools, London University.

Childrenswear retailer Adams has appointed Kevan Witts as group FD. He succeeds Dean Murray, who became the company’s COO in April 2002. Witts joins from Thomson Travel, where he spent 15 years, latterly as FD of Thomson Travel UK Distribution.

Steven Hill has left his position as FD of Madisons Coffee by mutual consent and will not be replaced. The board believes FC and company secretary Susan Ludley and non-exec Richard Scott are capable of fulfilling Madisons’ financial needs.

Barry Pummell is set to leave Barking & Dagenham Council after 38 years, the last ten spent as the borough’s finance officer. Pummell developed a pension scheme that won him the Public Treasurer Investment Award 2000.

Christopher Tidball is the new finance director of internet company Your Space. He was previously a partner with Andersen.
