On the move - Lloyds TSB saves spot for Hampton.

Lloyds TSB has appointed Philip Hampton as group FD. The former finance director of BG and BT succeeds Kent Atkinson, who retires after seven years. Hampton has also joined the RMC Group as a non-exec.

Former Corus Group FD John Rennocks has joined Babcock International Group as a non-executive director. He is currently deputy chairman of Inmarsat and a non-exec at KS Biomedix.

Hanson Group’s head of US operations and former group FD Alan Murray is set to become the company’s chief exec. He succeeds Andrew Dougal, also a former Hanson group FD, who is retiring.

Former Marks and Spencer FD Robert Colvill has succeeded Lord Inchyra as chairman of Witan Investment Trust’s audit committee and its management engagement committee. Colvill has been a non-exec at Witan since 1994.

John Menzies FD Martyn Smith is leaving the company in September to take over as group FD of Avis Europe. Smith replaces Chris Cowan, who recently left Avis to join broking services company Prebon Yamane. Chief exec David Mackay is to retire from John Menzies next year.

Pearson FD John Makinson has been named chairman and chief exec of its Penguin Books division. Current Pearson deputy FD Rona Fairhead takes Makinson’s place as FD. Penguin president David Wan is leaving to join Harvard Business School Publishing as chief executive.

Convenience food group Greencore has named Patrick Kennedy as CFO. Kennedy has worked for the company since 1998 and joined the board in 2001. He has also worked for McKinsey and KPMG.

Richard Cooper has been appointed as the new group FD of software vendor Patsystems two months after joining as CFO and company secretary.

Stephen Hester has joined Abbey National as group FD, having served with CSFB since 1982. Hester succeeds Mark Pain, who became MD of wholesale banking in November 2001.

Group FD Peter McWeeney has resigned from business service provider ATA Group, and his board level responsibilities will now be handled by company secretary Stephanie Moulton.

The Wilmington Group has named Basil Brookes, who has held several senior positions within the company since 1992, as FD. Previous FD Ahmed Zahedieh is reducing his responsibilities ahead of his retirement in 2003.

Peter Sands has left management consultancy firm McKinsey to join Standard Chartered as FD. Sands takes over from Nigel Kenny, who leaves the company after ten years.

Paul Hollingworth is set to join plasterboard maker BPB as FD, leaving his FD role at banknote printer De La Rue after three years.

Former mmO2 operations director Bob Warner has joined Remploy as finance director.

Littlewoods group FD Alan White is leaving the company to rejoin home shopping company N Brown as chief exec. White served as group FD at N Brown between 1985 and 1999.

Randgold Resources has appointed Roger Williams as FD. He succeeds David Ashworth, who remains on the board as a non-exec.

Martin Magee is joining Jersey Electricity as group finance director from Scottish Power, where he held a number of senior financial management positions.

Andrew Bester is the new CFO of business outsourcing company Xchanging. He previously worked as a director in the global corporate finance division of Deutsche Bank.

British food group Uniq has named Martin Beer as FD, succeeding John Worby, who retires from the board at the end of the year. Beer has been with the group since 1990, in a number of financial roles. Worby joined in 1978. He was FD from 1987, then deputy chairman from 2001.

Telecoms company Envesta has named Helen Grimes as FD, following Mark Garratt’s resignation. Garratt is concentrating on his activities at Cater Barnard, which holds a 53% stake in Envesta.

Marketing communications company BV Group has appointed James Croser as financial director.

Legal insurance firm DAS has promoted assistant general manager finance Patrick Veysey to FD.

Teather & Greenwood Holdings has named COO Nicholas Stagg as FD. He succeeds Brian Rowbotham.
