So you can imagine our delight that Marconi’s John Mayo received a CBE in 2000 and that Pearson’s John Makinson was similarly honoured this year. Our warmest congratulations to him.
Makinson, 45, has been at Pearson since 1996, prior to which he was MD of the Financial Times. (We’re also delighted to note that he had a distinguished ten-year career as a journalist, first with Reuters, latterly as editor of the FT’s Lex column.)
Like Mayo before him, he featured in Financial Director’s “high flyers” league table in our annual reports and accounts survey last November.
Nice to know that FDs are now getting the recognition as well as the rewards.
