Extraordinary items - Company with a bummer of a name

We’ve been scratching our heads around here trying to think of some of the worst company names we’ve ever come across. Brixton Estates was one property group we always reckoned had an artificially low share price, and we could never quite figure out why a financial services group should call itself Cattles. Probably the worst company name was the London-quoted African mining group, Wankie Colliery.

But, believe it or not, we’ve now found one that’s worse. According to a research circular we’ve been sent by Salomon Smith Barney, there’s a consumer durables company in Turkey that is called Arcelik. We understand that, having done a thorough bottom-up analysis, Salomons are bullish about its prospects.
