Sour grapes and arguments on the buses
Cowie Group director Neil Pykett decided to leave the car distributor and bus company after losing out in the battle for the top job. There followed a prolonged battle over compensation, made more difficult by the fact that the company’s articles require a vote of shareholders to remove a director.
The board broke new ground by accusing Pykett of gross misconduct. Such allegations stink of hands-in-the-till or some such misdemeanour. But the crime was merely arguing with other directors. Describing that as misconduct is an interesting interpretation of collective boardroom responsibility and teamwork.
