Allders: stocking up on information
Allders International built a Red Brick Systems’ data warehouse to perform sales analysis and inventory management based on stock information captured from all its duty free outlets at airports and cross-channel ferries.
“In the first month of the three-month trial pilot alone, we were able to recoup over #60,000 of our investment in hard cash savings. We expect the project will pay for itself within four to five months of operation,” reports David Stone, business systems manager for Allders.
When shelf space is at a premium, understanding which products perform best at certain locations is critical for maximising profitability. Knowing how different products from specific suppliers perform also gives Allders an advantage when it comes to negotiating competitive deals.
