Reds shortlist possible contenders after Launders transfer
Manchester United’s long-awaited return to form turns the spotlight away from the pitch and back to the boardroom. Since Robin Launders left for Elland Road, the FD’s seat has remained visibly unfilled at a time when takeover rumours circle the club.
Local headhunters Howgate Sable – where Professor Roland Smith is partnership advisor as well as United’s chairman – have drawn up a shortlist of successors, rumoured to include not a few City-friendly outsiders.
That’s notwithstanding the fact that acting finance chief David Beswitherick is well equipped to run with the ball … and has the added advantage of being a United fan, something he does NOT share with his predecessor.
