Summertime blues rumble on at EMAP

The high-octane bust-up at publishing group EMAP doesn’t match the imaginary goings-on at Black Pharmaceuticals (see below). But, it has been astonishing for both its longevity and the intensity of the battle between chairman Sir John Hoskyns and the dissident directors, Professor Kenneth Simmonds and former Daily Telegraph executive Joe Cooke.

The row inevitably headed for what will in every sense be an extraordinary general meeting. But since the story began in the summer and continued in a series of cliff-hanging episodes, perhaps EMAP’s directors should have thought about shareholder value and turned the battle into a serial for one of their publications.

The only question is which one? Just Seventeen, perhaps.
