The number of pension fund managers with more than $100bn under management has risen from 22 a year ago to 35, according to a new guide issued by consultants William M Mercer. Together, those 35 firms look after $8.2 trillion. The report also says that the proportion of UK pension assets that are managed by index trackers has risen from 16% to 22% in a year. UK pension assets account for 40% of European pension assets.
