This week the world’s business and political leaders descend on the Swiss mountain resort of Davos, which hosts the World Economic Forum (WEF), to try to solve the planet’s biggest challenges.

The biggest name on that list is Christine Lagarde, who as managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has become by many people’s reckoning the most powerful woman in the world.

Financial Director has been granted an exclusive interview with Mme Lagarde in Washington.

China-US trade relations, China’s economic slowdown and Brexit, the key issues that will be on the agenda at the at Davos, were discussed by Mme Lagarde.

But the most interesting issue covered was the importance of female leadership for driving global prosperity- a core theme that will be addressed at Financial Director’s diversity and resilience summit in the Spring.

Her observation that only organisations applying a diverse lens will be fit for purpose in the increasingly complex and uncertain global environment, will be investigated in full at the event.
