Prime minister Theresa May has told MPs 95% of the terms of Brexit were agreed but the Irish border was still a “considerable sticking point”.

While willing to consider extending the UK’s transition period beyond 2020, she said this was “undesirable” and would have to end “well before” May 2022.


The latest Global Economic Conditions Survey from ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) reveals confidence fell in the third quarter of 2018, its lowest since the beginning of 2016.

The accountancy body said news flow about trade tensions has greatly impacted on confidence within the world’s biggest economies – the US and China.
