Kingfisher FD takes Imperial Tobacco non-exec role

Karen Witts to serve as Imperial Tobacco non-exec and audit committee member

A RESHUFFLE of non-executive roles at Imperial Tobacco sees Kingfisher group FD Karen Witts join its board.

Witts joins as a member of Imperial Tobacco’s audit, remuneration and nominations committees. She has extensive experience, serving at BT, Paribas, Grand Metropolitan and Ernst & Whinney. Witts is a former non-executive of Wolseley.

Mark Williamson moves from Imperial Tobacco deputy chairman to chairman, following Iain Napier’s retirement at today’s AGM. Non-exec Michael Herlihy succeeds Williamson as senior independent director. Herlihy’s move sees David Haines succeeding him as remuneration committee chairman. Berge Setrakian steps down as a non-executive director.

Williamson said: “I’m delighted to welcome Karen to the board. Her skills and expertise will be of tremendous benefit to the business. I would also like to thank Iain and Berge for their significant contributions to the Board and wish them both well for the future.”
