Barnier's audit reforms 'delayed one week'

Audit reform proposals from European Commission to be unveiled a week later than planned due to busy agenda in Brussels

EUROPEAN COMMISSION audit reforms will be publicised one week later than planned due to a “very heavy agenda” at the Economic Affairs Committee meeting on 23 November.

The brainchild of internal markets commissioner Barnier, a draft of the proposals was leaked to Accountancy Age in September, and the final version was expected next week.

However, Barnier’s spokeswoman said the reforms have been pushed down the agenda due to crisis in the euro zone, and will instead be presented at the meeting on 30 November.

She denied the delay was due to the proposals not being finalised, but admitted there was a chance the date could be pushed back even further.
