Almanza calls time with BG Group

Ashley Almanza, finance director with British gas giant BG Group, will step down from the company in March, the company announced today.

Almanza, a respected industry figure who until last month headed the influential Hundred Group of Finance Directors, has been with BG more than eight years.

His replacement, Fabio de Oliveira Barbosa, will join the company from Brazilian mining company Vale SA, the largest private sector company in Latin America and the second-largest metals and mining company in the world by market capitalisation.

Barbosa’s appointment will follow his receipt of the necessary UK visa.

BG chief executive Frank Chapman said Almanza’s had shown “tremendous commitment” during his time at BG Group.

“Ashley has worked with me closely in an exceptional partnership that has helped shape the BG Group business as we know it today,” he said.
