Accountant takes over at metal exchange
Chartered accountant Simon Heale is to take over as chief executive of the London Metal Exchange in July.
Chartered accountant Simon Heale is to take over as chief executive of the London Metal Exchange in July.
Heale, who until February this year was the chief operating officer of Jardine Flemming in Hong Kong, will take over from David King, who is stepping down after 12 years in the role.
Price Waterhouse-trained Heale has spent the past twenty years working in Hong Kong, Japan and the US, first with Swire Group and then with Jardines.
Lord Bagri, chairman of the LME, said: ‘I am delighted that Simon is to become the LME’s next chief executive. He is used to working in complex multinational enterprises, and has demonstrated that he is innovative as well as having well-honed financial and analytical skills.’
The LME is one of the world’s largest non-ferrous metals markets, with a turnover of $2,000bn. It accounts for more than £250m in overseas earning for the UK each year.
