Receivers optimistic of Cammell sale

Receivers for troubled shipbuilder Cammell Laird said yesterday there had been four expressions of interest in the business or its assets.

PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Edward Klempka, one of the receivers, said he is ‘cautiously optimistic’ about selling the company as a going concern, the Guardian reported today.

PwC is reported to have received two inquiries yesterday ? adding to two approaches made to Cammell before the Merseyside shipbuilder entered receivership.

Cammell Laird called in receivers on Wednesday following a series of cancelled orders. More than 3,000 jobs are now thought to be under threat.
